at HOME
in the HEART of GOD - in the SERVICE of CHRIST
I began in a big family in a small town, where loving relationships and country hospitality were my cradle. When I was six, my family crossed the mighty Mississippi & the massive Pacific to land in Hawaii – where I thrived in the rich and varied soil of the islands and her peoples.

From there, I set off to take on the world, heading north to Alaska. I had MY plan but, thankfully, I ran full face into God’s plan. In searching the world I encountered the Kingdom and found my home in the heart of God. I also met Mark, my husband, and he and I went about making a place, a family and a life of tilling the earthy soil of a potato farm and the fertile soil of youth work.

Then a shift occurred - one day sitting on my front steps, having daily prayer and reading my Bible: Jesus said to the disciples, “The harvest is great but the workers are few. Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send workers into the field.” Matt 9:37-38. I looked out over the vast fields before me and began to pray, “God send workers”…and then…the Spirit turned my prayer and my soul, “Pray for others to work? I can work!” Since then I have been a migrant field hand at home in the service of Christ.

Marriage, motherhood, ministry and farming …great accomplishment and disappointment, a brush or two with my own death and I’ve arrived at the clarity and conviction that life is precious & fleeting and expending it in the service of Christ is where I am most alive. Jesus has gone to extraordinary lengths to unveil my true self, refine my gifts and clarify my calling – basically to make me fit to handle a hoe, but here I am, sunburned and sore but deeply content and at peace. |
